Vandergrift is a borough in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It is located in the southwestern part of the state, about 45 miles away from Pittsburgh. Vandergrift has a history of Iron and Steel industries. During the early 20th century, the borough had the largest sheet steel mill in the world. According to the United States Census Bureau of 2000, Vandergrift has a population 5,455. The borough has a total area of 1.3 square miles, of which, 1.2 square miles of it is land and 0.1 square miles of it is water.
